Galaxy S26: Full Specifications

The Galaxy S26 takes Samsung’s flagship range in a more compact direction without giving up the essentials that define the series. Its 6.3-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display pairs a sharp FHD+ resolution with a refresh rate up to 120 Hz, while the slim 149.6 x 71.7 x 7.2 mm body and 167 g weight keep it easy to handle. Samsung equips it with 12 GB of RAM and either 256 GB or 512 GB of storage depending on version, along with Android 16 and support for Samsung DeX for a more desktop-like experience when needed. The rear camera system combines a 50 MP main sensor with a 10 MP telephoto camera offering 3x optical zoom and a 12 MP ultrawide, and the phone records video up to 8K at 30 fps. A 12 MP front camera with autofocus handles selfies and video calls. The 4300 mAh battery is rated for up to 30 hours of video playback, and the device also brings the practical features expected in this class, including IP68 water and dust resistance, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, USB-C, GPS family positioning support, and flexible SIM use with nano-SIM and eSIM.

Pros

  • The new "Privacy Display" on the Ultra model prevents people nearby from seeing your screen.
  • The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip offers a massive boost in AI and gaming performance.
  • The base storage has been doubled to 256GB for the entry-level model.

Cons

  • The camera hardware remains almost identical to the S25 for the standard and Plus models.
  • There is still no built-in magnetic charging system (Qi2) without using a specific case.
  • Prices in Canada have increased, with the base Galaxy S26 now starting at $1,249.99 CAD.

Samsung Galaxy S26: Small Size, Very Few Compromises

The Galaxy S26 is easy to overlook next to the much more spectacular S26 Ultra. But for someone looking for a premium Android phone without carrying a small tablet in their pocket, the standard model deserves more attention.

Samsung keeps a 6.3-inch AMOLED display with an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz. The phone weighs only 167 grams, which is becoming surprisingly uncommon among premium smartphones. That lighter size is one of its biggest advantages in everyday use.

On the back, you get a 50MP main camera, a 12MP ultrawide and, importantly, a real 10MP 3x telephoto camera. It is not the oversized camera system found on the S26 Ultra, but the telephoto lens makes the regular S26 far more versatile than many other compact phones.

The 4,300mAh battery is not enormous, and wired charging remains limited to 25W. Those are probably the two most noticeable compromises. In return, Samsung manages to keep the device compact, light and very complete.

Our advice: do not automatically choose the S26 Ultra simply because it is the best Galaxy on paper. If you do not need its huge zoom range or larger display, the regular S26 may actually be much more pleasant to use every day. Sometimes, the best phone is simply the one you forget is in your pocket.
