iPhone 18 pro max: Full Specifications

The iPhone 18 Pro Max runs on Apple's A20 Pro chip with a 6-core CPU, a 7-core GPU with Neural Accelerators, and a redesigned vapor chamber for sustained performance. Its 6.9-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display runs with ProMotion up to 120Hz and reaches up to 3,000 nits peak brightness. The Pro Fusion camera system introduces variable aperture to iPhone for the first time, with the 48MP Fusion Main camera automatically adjusting between f/1.48 and f/4.0 for light and depth of field, alongside a 48MP Fusion Ultra Wide and a 48MP Fusion Telephoto offering optical-quality zoom up to 8x. The 18MP Center Stage front camera rounds out the system. Thanks to silicon efficiencies and a larger battery, this model delivers the largest battery life increase ever on iPhone. iPhone 18 : Our Advice Before You Buy

The iPhone 18 Pro is not trying to completely reinvent the iPhone. Instead, it improves several areas that actually matter in everyday use.

The most interesting change is the 48MP main camera, which now features a variable aperture. In practical terms, this gives users more control over depth of field and allows the camera to adapt better to different lighting conditions. For people who use their phone heavily for photography or video, this is probably one of the strongest reasons to choose the Pro model.

The 6.3-inch OLED display remains relatively compact for a premium smartphone and keeps an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz. The A20 Pro chip also provides more than enough power for gaming, video editing and the latest AI features.

Our advice: you do not necessarily need to replace an iPhone 17 Pro just to get the newest model. The improvements are real, but they make much more sense for people coming from an older device.

If you are still using an iPhone 15, 16 or an earlier generation, however, the iPhone 18 Pro becomes a much easier upgrade to justify, especially if photography, battery life and long-term use matter more to you than price.
