The Huawei P40 Pro is a high-end 5G handset built around photography, premium materials and a large curved display. Its 6.58-inch OLED screen reaches 2640 x 1200 resolution and up to a 90 Hz refresh rate, giving the phone a smooth, expansive look, while the glass-and-aluminum body keeps a polished flagship feel and carries IP68 water and dust resistance. Inside, the Kirin 990 5G chip is paired with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage on Huawei’s official configuration, with Nano Memory expansion available through the shared card slot. The camera system remains the centrepiece, combining a 50 MP main camera, 40 MP ultra wide camera, 12 MP periscope telephoto camera and 3D depth sensor, with support for 4K video at up to 60 fps on both the rear and front cameras. A 32 MP selfie camera with depth sensing handles portraits and face unlock. The 4200 mAh battery supports 40 W wired charging and 27 W wireless charging, and connectivity includes 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, NFC and USB-C. Depending on version, the phone supports dual nano-SIM or nano-SIM with eSIM, making it a versatile flagship with a strong focus on imaging and mobile performance.

Cons

  • Price: With a starting price of $1499 CAD, the P40 Pro is a very expensive device, even if it can be purchased with some kind of deal.
  • No 4K: Sadly, this device doesn't support 4K video, which may or may not be a dealbreaker depending on your viewing preferences.
  • Lack of Google: Unfortunately, this device does not support any apps or services manufactured by Google.
